About Sweeps Luck
Sweeps Luck is a family owned and operated business serving Southern California for thirty years. Sweeps Luck is composed of the businesses of Sweeps Luck Chimney Service, Buck Energy Fireplaces and All Star Window Cleaning. Business Sweeps Luck Chimney Service founder, Gil Calkins, established Sweeps Luck Chimney Service in 1982 with three goals in mind: reliability, honesty and professionalism toward each and every client. Thirty years later, his goals have paid off and a respected business continues to grow with locations serving all of the San Bernardino Mountains, all of San Diego County, Temecula, and surrounding areas.
In 2004, When Gil and his wife Judee decided to move to Virginia, Gil’s sons, Nolan and Nathan Calkins, decided to move back up to the mountains and purchase the business. Since then they have continued to improve upon his legacy. To better serve their clients, Nathan and Nolan acquired more service trucks, hired more service techs, have a full time office staff, created a paperless records system, built a website, joined many local organizations, expanded to San Diego and Big Bear Lake and are continuing to grow.
In 2006, Nolan and Nathan were able to promote the growth of the family company to other parts of Southern California. Childhood and family friend, Daniel Swedo and wife, Shelley, utilized the same determination and values to begin servicing San Diego, Temecula, and the Orange County area. Also, in 2009, good friends, Patrick and Kristal Baker joined the Sweeps Luck family and expanded services to the Loma Linda, Palm Springs and the High Desert areas. In 2011 due to the unexpected passing of Patrick this branch was closed. We think of Patrick every day and he is truly missed.
In 2006, to further expand their range of services, Nolan and Nathan have added Air Duct cleaning to their list of professional services offered.
In 2010, Nolan and Nathan obtained the dealership rights in California to install the product Thermocrete, the most advanced chimney restoration product in the industry. There are only nine companies in California certified to install this product and Sweeps Luck
In 2011 after many years of a partnership, Nolan and Nathan purchased their grandfathers long time local fireplace and stove company, Buck Energy Center. Fred Webster has served the San Bernardino mountain communities since 1983. Buck Energy specializes in sales and installation as well as repairs for new fireplaces, inserts, stoves, BBQ’s, patio heaters, gas logs and accessories. The company name has been changed to Buck Energy Fireplaces.
Sweeps Luck has always been proud to give back to the community by contributing donations and services to many local organizations and schools. Sweeps Luck donates to Mountain Hearts and Lives, Rebuilding Day, Boys and Girls Club, Touch of Home as well as Rim Youth and Rim High School sports such as football, band, softball, wrestling and the shred snowboard team.
Both brothers believe in giving back to the community in all ways possible. Nathan has been a paid call firefighter for Crest Forrest Fire agency since 2006. Nolan and Nathan stared a fund raiser in 2010 and 2011 to help local charity Touch of Home raise money to send care packages to the troops overseas. Both brothers received Certificates of Recommendation awarded from local senator Bob Dutton. In 2011 Nolan was elected to the board of directors for the Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce, in 2012 he was appointed to the executive committee and appointed to Sectary. In 2012 Nolan and his Wife Ellie joined the local foster agency and feel blessed to be able to care for children in need.
In 2012 Nolan and Nathan purchased long time window cleaning company All Star Window Cleaning from local resident Lauren Starr. Pressure washing, gutter and roof cleaning was added to the list of services this company now offers. Also as of November 2012, Nolan and Nathan opened there second Buck Energy Fireplace location in Big Bear Lake, CA.
Continuing Gil Calkins’ expertise and family ethics, now with over seven thousand happy customers Nolan and Nathan are proud to be at the forefront of their industry. Sweeps Luck fully insured, they carry liability and commercial insurance as well as workman’s comp and disability insurance for all of their employees.
